The story takes place in the era of "Everyone Investing in Stocks" in 1989. Little boy Liao Jie and his father Liao TaiLai depend on each other, believing in the inherent goodness of human nature, but they neglect the changes happening in the world. The stock market soars, prices double, some become millionaires overnight, while others realize the reality is harsh. The honest and simple-minded Liao Jie and his father belong to the latter group. Unexpectedly, they encounter the cunning and clever "Old Fox," and their paths of destiny may take a completely different turn.
One of the crucial scenes in the film is an authentic recreation of a 1990s-style public restroom. The production team chose to set it up in the Banqiao Riverside Park in New Taipei City, while also shooting scenes at the Dong'ao Fishing Harbor in Wanli to capture the authentic ambience of the era.
